Founders Grotesk Font

4.7/5 - (7 votes)

Founders Grotesk Font is a modern and classic sans-serif typeface (OTF, TTF) designed by  Kris Sowersby Foundry based in New Zealand. Originally designed in the early 20th century, it is inspired by Grotesques. Its distinctive feature is the small aperture of the C of founder Grotesk. In order to meet the demand of modern printing, grotesques combine the best features from previous centuries’ portraits.

Founders Grotesk was modeled after Duncan Forbes from The International Office. We frequently discussed the characteristics and purposes of conventional grotesques as well as the concept of creating a new one. After carefully studying my 1912 Miller & Richard example, he became intrigued with their series of Grotesques, especially their capital letters.
